Meal Teams

Breakfast Teams

Provide a hot breakfast to our residents on a Saturday or Sunday morning. San Jose Family Shelter has a full-service kitchen.  You may prepare your meal onsite or bring it ready to serve. Typical breakfast dishes: eggs, bacon, ham, fruits, and juice. Other ideas include pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, grits, sausage, French toast, etc.

Breakfast is served from 7:00 am-8:30 am.

Lunch Teams

Provide a hot lunch to our residents on a Saturday or Sunday morning.  San Jose Family Shelter has a full-service kitchen.  You may prepare your meal onsite or bring it ready to serve.  Typical dishes: chili, chicken, pasta, casseroles, pizza, hotdogs, salad, vegetables, bread, rolls, or tortillas, etc.

Lunch is served from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm.

Dinner Teams

Provide a hot dinner to our residents on a Friday and/or a holiday.  There are occasional Saturday or Sunday openings as well.  San Jose Family Shelter has a full-service kitchen. You may prepare your meal onsite, or bring it ready to serve. Typical dishes include chicken, pasta, casseroles, pizza, roast beef, vegetables, rolls, burritos, desserts, etc.

Dinner is served from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm

Weekend Activity Leaders

Do you know of a group of people who enjoy creating and providing their own special activity for children?  We need you!

Examples of past activities include kite making, popcorn and a movie, arts and crafts, and more.

Saturdays and Sundays are available 1:00 pm-3:00 pm and 3:00 pm-5:00 pm. Some Friday evenings are open between 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm.

A maximum number of volunteers is 10; volunteers under 18 must have 1 parent-aged adult supervisor for every 5 volunteers (e.g., For 10 volunteers under 18, 2 adult supervisors are needed).
